Jackie Sileo, a senior from LIU Post, was named the 2014 DII Woman of the Year nominee for women's lacrosse as announced by Executive Director Chris Voelz of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.

She is now designated one of 11 finalists for the prestigious DII Woman Athlete of the Year honor. This will be voted on at the end of the academic year by national balloting among 1,000 NCAA member schools as part of THE CWSA program, now in its 38th year.

Sileo, a native of Wantagh, N.Y., is a three-time Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) first-team All-American and was recently added to the 2014-15 U.S. National Team tryout pool. She was one of only two Division II players among the 88 invited.

The senior paced the nation in points (144), assists (89) and assists per game (4.45) during the 2014 campaign. She became the all-time scoring leader across all divisions of women's lacrosse this season, and rounded out her career with an outstanding 564 total points scored (195 goals, 369 assists).

"I am so honored and humbled to be nominated for such a prestigious award. It means so much to me that I am able to represent not only LIU Post, but Division II women's lacrosse," stated Sileo. "This nomination is a testament to my teammates and coaches who have pushed me to my fullest potential. I would not be in this position if it wasn't for them...It is an absolute honor to be up for this award along with so many amazing athletes, both past and present."

All sports nominees from DII and DIII become a finalist for the prestigious 2014 CWSA Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year in their respective divisions, presented in June. The sports nominees are recognized in 11 DII and DIII NCAA-sanctioned sports; cross country, basketball, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, volleyball, and track & field.

THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards has honored the nation’s top NCAA women athletes for 37 years, recognizing superior athletic skills, leadership, academic excellence and eagerness to participate in community service. Since commencing its sponsorship in 1986, Honda has provided more than $2.8 million in institutional grants to the universities of the award winners and nominees to support women’s athletics programs at the institutions.
