Class of 2018 Honda Cup Finalists to Participate in “Huddle” Through Partnership Between CWSA and SRLA

The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) Presented by Honda announced today that the Class of 2018 will “Huddle” at the LA84 Foundation downtown campus with Students Run LA (SRLA) in an informal panel discussion on Sunday, June 24th, from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm PST.  A question and answer session, autographs and photos for the attendees will also be available.

The CWSA Class of 2018 award winners will share their thoughts about what it takes to balance sports and academics – and be a winner at both. There is no charge to attend the event.

The Huddle is one of many events surrounding the Collegiate Women Sports Awards presented by Honda's announcement of the Honda Cup which airs live on CBS Sport Network on Monday, June 25, at 6 pm PT/9 pm ET, from the USC Galen Center Founders Room in Los Angeles, Calif.

The mission of Students Run LA is to challenge at-risk secondary students to experience the benefits of goal-setting, character development, adult mentoring and improved health by providing them with a truly life-changing experience: The training for and completion of the Skechers Performance Los Angeles Marathon.

Since 1989, more than 63,000 students have been served by SRLA. The growth of the program has only increased its success.

“The CWSA Huddle is our top community outreach program during our two-day event,” said Jean Lenti Ponsetto, CWSA Chair of the Board and Athletics Director at DePaul University.

“Year in and year out, our honorees share how much they appreciate the opportunity to give back in service to the children in the LA community as part of the CWSA program. We are so pleased that The Collegiate Women Sports Awards presented by Honda will be partnering with SRLA as it brings two organizations whose values are keenly aligned. We both believe in life readiness through sport and we look forward to the June 24th event at the LA84 Foundation venue.”

“We are so fortunate to be joining hands and hearts with Students Run LA for our 2018 CWSA Huddle,” stated Chris Voelz, CWSA Executive Director.

“This community outreach is a popular activity for our honorees as they give back by inspiring youth with their stories. All of us at CWSA, led by our Event Director Katherine Caulfield, look forward to working with SRLA and her team for a successful 2018 Huddle.”

The Huddle, free and open to the public, will take place on the campus of LA84 in downtown Los Angeles, Calif., located at 2141 W Adams Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90018. To RSVP for the event, please sign-up at the Remind app here https://www.remind.com/join/ck2aa2
