Tilda Larsson, a junior from Barry University, was named the 2018 DII Honda Athlete of the Year nominee for golf as announced by Executive Director Chris Voelz of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.

Larsson is now designated one of 11 finalists for the prestigious DII Honda Woman Athlete of the Year. This will be voted on at the end of the academic year by national balloting among 1,000 NCAA member schools as part of THE CWSA program, now in its 42nd year.

“Thank you, it is a great honor to be a nominee for the Honda DII Athlete of the Year,” stated Larsson. “It has been a very good year, and this nominee made the end of it even better.”

Larsson, hailing from Emmaboda, Sweden, was recently named the PING Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) DII Player of the Year and earned her third nod on the WGCA All-America first-team as a junior. She is a two-time Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Player of the Year and twice named to the SSC All-Conference first-team. Golfstat rated her No. 1 in the nation and she finished the season at No. 2 in the Golfstat rankings.

After shooting a program best 66 in the fall, she finished her season by winning a school record five tournaments. She also set school records for scoring average (72.09), finish percentage (94.9), counting scores (100%), birdies (108), eagles (4), par-3 scoring (3.0643), par-4 scoring (4.0680) and par-5 scoring (4.8030).

“Tilda is a tremendous student and athlete,” said Barry head coach Shannon Sykora. “She is a great teammate and will be successful in whatever she pursues."

All Honda Sports nominees from DII and DIII become a finalist for the prestigious 2018 Honda Woman Athlete of the Year in their respective divisions, presented in a live telecast on CBS Sports on June 25, 2018, in downtown Los Angeles.
