Jasmine Moore, a senior from the University of Florida, was named the Honda Sport Award winner for Track & Field as announced today by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA).

The Honda Sport Award has been presented annually by the CWSA for the past 47 years to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA- sanctioned sports and signifies “the best of the best in collegiate athletics”.  The winner of the sport award becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious 2023 Honda Cup, which will be presented on a live telecast on CBS Sports Network on June 26th, at 8:30 pm ET/5:30 pm PT.

Moore was chosen by a vote of administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools. Finalists included Julien Alfred (Texas), Ackera Nugent (Arkansas) and Britton Wilson (Arkansas).

“It’s an honor to have won this award against so many other great athletes”, said Moore. “I am so excited to represent the University of Florida and thankful to have the best coaches and family!”

Moore appeared on all eight The Bowerman watch lists this season and is a seven-time NCAA Champion after winning the Triple Jump and Long Jump crowns at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championship and the Triple Jump at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championship. She was named the 2022 and 2023 United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Indoor Field Athlete of the Year and has earned 10 USTFCCCA First Team All-America honors.

The senior from Grand Prairie, Texas, holds the collegiate record in the Outdoor Triple Jump which she set at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championship and holds the collegiate records for the Indoor Long Jump and Triple Jump which she set at the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championship. She medaled in every horizontal jump championship competition for the past two years and is the only woman to ever jump 15m in the Triple Jump and 7m in the Long Jump at the same meet.

“I am extremely happy for Jasmine [Moore] being named the Honda Award winner”, said Gators head coach Mike Holloway. “Winning this award is a testament to the athlete and person that Jasmine is and to all the hard work she and Coach Nic Petersen put in.”

“I am over the moon for Jasmine [Moore] and her remarkable achievement of winning the prestigious 2023 Honda Award for Track & Field,” stated jumps coach Nic Petersen. “This award is a testament to her incredible abilities and the countless hours of hard work she has poured into her craft. I couldn't be happier for Jasmine, and I have no doubt that this is just the beginning of an extraordinary journey filled with even greater triumphs.”

The CWSA, entering its 47th year, has honored the nation’s top NCAA women athletes for their superior athletic skills, leadership, academic excellence and eagerness to participate in community service.  Since commencing its partnership in 1986, Honda has provided more than $3.4 million in institutional grants to the universities of the award winners and nominees to support women’s athletics programs.
