The 2008 winner of what was then known as the Honda-Broderick Cup is basketball phenom Candace Parker from the University of Tennessee. Playing under the late legendary Pat Summitt, Candace led the Lady Vols to two consecutive NCAA championships in 2007 and 2008 and claimed 2008 Women’s Final Four Most Outstanding Player honors. She was then the top pick in the 2008 WNBA Draft for the Los Angeles Sparks and that summer became the first WNBA player to be named Rookie of the Year and League MVP in the same season. Her 16-year WNBA career includes league titles with three different teams, while she also won two Gold Medals with Team USA in 2008 and 2012.
