Bio

The 1991 winner of what was then the Honda-Broderick Cup is basketball legend Dawn Staley from the University of Virginia. During her college career, Dawn led the Cavaliers to three straight NCAA Women’s Final Fours from 1990 through 1992. In 1991, she made history as the only player ever named Final Four Most Outstanding Player without winning the national title. She went on to win three Olympic gold medals with Team USA,in 1996, 2000, and 2004, and was a six-time WNBA All-Star across eight seasons. Today, Dawn is the head coach at the University of South Carolina, where she has already won three NCAA national championships. Dawn is also the only Honda Cup winner to be the head coach of another Honda Cup winner, guiding Aliyah Boston to the award in 2022.
