The 1988 winner of what was then the Honda-Broderick Cup is Louisiana Tech’s Teresa Weatherspoon, who led the Lady Techsters to the program’s third national championship in 1988.  A two-time Kodak All-American, she still holds the school’s career records for assists and steals. Teresa went on to win Olympic Gold in 1988 and Bronze in 1992, then played professionally in Italy before joining the WNBA in 1997, its inaugural season.  Teresa became a cornerstone of the New York Liberty, earning two WNBA Defensive Player of the Year awards and five All-Star selections across her eight-year career.  Today, Teresa is the head coach of Unrivaled’s Vinyl BC.
