The Honda Sport Award has been presented annually by the CWSA for the past 48 years to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA- sanctioned sports and signifies “the best of the best in collegiate athletics”.  The winner of the sport award becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious 2024 Honda Cup, which will be presented on a live telecast on CBS Sports Network on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 7 PM ET, from its new home in New York City.

Clark was chosen by a vote of administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools. Finalists included Paige Bueckers (UConn), Elizabeth Kitley (Virginia Tech) and JuJu Watkins (USC).

Clark is the reigning Honda Cup winner after capturing the honor for the Class of 2023. The guard swept the 2023 National Player of the Year honors and is once again a finalist for the 2024 National Player of the Year awards for all major outlets. Most recently, she repeated as the Associated Press National Player of the Year and the Naismith Award winner and is also a finalist for the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year, which she has won twice previously, and the Dawn Staley Award, which she won the last three seasons.

Hailing from West Des Moines, Iowa, Clark is a four-time First Team All-American and three-time Big Ten Player of the Year. She is also a four-time unanimous Big Ten First Team All-Conference member and the first player at Iowa to be named First Team All-Big Ten in four years of competition. The senior earned three Big Ten Tournament MVP honors and set a Big Ten Tournament career record with 112 assists.

Recently, she became the NCAA’s men’s and women’s all-time leading scorer surpassing LSU’s Pete Maravich, in her 130th career game. Entering the Final Four, she leads the nation in several NCAA categories including points per game (32.0), three pointers made (508), three pointers per game (5.22) and triple-doubles (6).

Clark led the Hawkeyes to their second straight NCAA Final Four after finishing with 41 points, 12 assists and seven rebounds in the Elite Eight win over LSU, a rematch of last year’s championship game.

The CWSA, entering its 48th year, has honored the nation’s top NCAA women athletes for their superior athletic skills, leadership, academic excellence and eagerness to participate in community service.

Since commencing its partnership in 1986, Honda has provided more than $3.4 million in institutional grants to the universities of the award winners and nominees to support women’s athletics programs.
