Carly Muscaro, a senior from Merrimack College, was named the DII Honda Athlete of the Year nominee for Track & Field as announced by Executive Director Chris Voelz of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.

Muscaro is now designated one of 11 finalists for the prestigious DII Honda Woman Athlete of the Year. This will be voted on at the end of the academic year by national balloting among 1,000 NCAA member schools as part of THE CWSA program, now in its 41st year.

"I am honored to represent women's track and field for this prestigious award, “ said Muscaro. “This sport has made me a better athlete and, more importantly, a better person over the past four years. All of the hard work and sacrifice was worth it, and I am proud to be a part of this elite group and I could not be more grateful to be considered among the top women's student-athletes in Division II."

Hailing from Ashland, Mass., Muscaro was recently named the United States Track & Field/Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) DII Outdoor Track Performer of the Year after capturing two DII NCAA Individual Championships in the 200 meters and 400 meters. Overall, she has six career national titles to her name and is a 12-time USTFCCCA All-American.

She was also named the Most Outstanding Track Performer at the 2017 NE10 Championship and closes her career with six NE10 Conference titles. In addition to her performance on the track, she is a two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic honoree.

All Honda Sports nominees from DII and DIII become a finalist for the prestigious 2017 Honda Woman Athlete of the Year in their respective divisions, presented in a live telecast on CBS Sports on June 26, 2017, in downtown Los Angeles.
