Senior pitcher Rachel Garcia (Palmdale, Calif.) of the UCLA softball team was named the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and presented with the prestigious Honda Cup during the 45th anniversary broadcast of the Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) show presented by Honda on CBS Sports Network, at the CBS Studios in New York, NY. Honda has served as the program’s presenting sponsor for 35 years.
Jillian Drinkard (Golf, Methodist University), Erica Ekstrand (Tennis, Williams College), Jessica Goldyn (Virginia Wesleyan University), Emily Pomainville (Track & Field, SUNY Geneseo), Kendall Sosa (Basketball, Illinois Wesleyan University) and Alexis Strobel (Lacrosse, Salisbury University) were named DIII Honda Athlete of the Year finalists as announced by Executive Director Chris Voelz of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.

In 2019, Garcia went on to become the fifth Bruin overall and third softball player from UCLA to win the prestigious Honda Cup.
