Larisa Luloff, a senior from DePauw University, was named the DIII Honda Athlete of the Year finalist for golf as announced by Executive Director Chris Voelz of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.
Luloff is now designated one of 11 finalists for the prestigious DIII Honda Athlete of the Year. This will be voted on at the end of the academic year by national balloting among 1,000 NCAA member schools as part of THE CWSA program, now in its 43rd year.
Luloff was named the Ping WGCA Division III Player of the Year after finishing the regular season as the top-ranked Division III golfer on the season by Golfstat. She finished in a tie for fourth place at the DIII NCAA Championship and her four-round 301 marked the best individual score by a Tiger in the program's 15 NCAA appearances.
En route to helping her team capture its second-straight NCAC Championship and an NCAA bid, she was the conference individual medalist and captured six individual titles this season. She earned NCAC Golfer of the Year honors and overall, she finished in the top six in all 12 events she competed in.
Hailing from Cary, Ill., she posted the team-best scoring average in all four seasons played including a 74.28 this year setting a school season record. Her career average is 77.35 over 95 rounds which is also a school record.
She is a three-time All-NCAC first-team selection and was a first-team All-American this year after honorable mention status last season.
“Larisa is the most complete golfer I've coached,” stated head coach Vince Lazar. “When competing, she has the temperament of a winning tour player.”
All Honda Sports nominees from DIII and DII become a finalist for the prestigious 2019 Honda Athlete of the Year in their respective divisions, presented in a live telecast on CBS Sports on June 24, 2019, in downtown Los Angeles. The Honda Sports nominees are recognized in 11 DIII and DII NCAA-sanctioned sports; cross country, basketball, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming & diving, tennis, volleyball, and track & field.
THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards has honored the nation’s top NCAA women athletes for 43 years, recognizing superior athletic skills, leadership, academic excellence and eagerness to participate in community service.
