The Collegiate Women Sports Awards Partners With WiSP

The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) Presented by Honda announced today an affiliated partnership with WiSP Sports effective immediately.

"Partnering with WiSP Sports is a natural as we hold similar objectives in lifting women and their achievements up and sharing their stories with the greater public,” said CWSA Executive Director Chris Voelz. “We look forward to participating in the podcasts and the privilege of honoring these athletes alongside WiSP Sports.”

Driven to make a difference, the CWSA was created when women of excellence in sports were being under recognized. For the past 44 years, the CWSA has since honored “the best of the best” as the nation’s top NCAA women student-athletes, recognizing superior athletic skills, leadership, academic excellence and eagerness to participate in community service.  The partnership with WiSP Sports is another step forward in realizing the CWSA mission of identifying and celebrating the best women collegiate athletes and sharing their stories as a source of inspiration to athletes and non-athletes nationally and worldwide.

WiSP Sports tells the stories of sportswomen with integrity and respect while promoting gender equality, diversity, fairness and access. They celebrate women’s achievements both in and out of competition through articles, video, blogs and podcasts. As thought leaders, WiSP is shifting the narrative from a mainstream perspective of women in sport by enabling women to tell their own stories without bias.

“We are delighted to welcome The Collegiate Women’s Sports Awards as a WiSP Sports Affiliate Partner,” said Chris Stafford, President and CEO of WiSP Sports. “Their work with athletes aligns with our mission and values and we are excited to be able to celebrate their honorees with a new podcast to be announced shortly. Their award winners are distinguished female athletes and we very much look forward to sharing their stories through our global network.”

"In order for the recognition of women in sports to grow, we have long known that partnerships aren’t just convenient, they are necessities,” stated Board of Directors Executive Committee Chair Jean Lenti Ponsetto. " The affiliate partnership with WiSP Sports supports our Strategic Plan and best  of all supports the wonderful  women we recognize.”
