Lindsey Windsor, a senior from Salisbury University, was named the DIII Honda Athlete of the Year finalist for Softball as announced today by Executive Director Chris Voelz of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.

Windsor is now designated one of 11 finalists for the prestigious DIII Honda Athlete of the Year. This will be voted on at the end of the academic year by national balloting among 1,000 NCAA member schools as part of THE CWSA program, now in its 47th year.

“When I received the news, all I had was a feeling of overwhelming thankfulness and gratitude,” said Windsor. “I am honored to be in the running for the Honda DIII Athlete of the Year along with so many great student-athletes from across the country. I would like to thank everyone that has helped me in the journey. This year, I was surrounded by incredible opportunities and even better people and I am so proud to be a part of this team and Salisbury University. What a joy it is to share this honor with my teammates and my community.”

Windsor, a senior hailing from Union Bridge, Md., was most recently named the Division III National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Player of the Year and earned NFCA First-Team All-America honors and All-Region First Team honors for the second season in a row. She became the first player in school history to earn the Player of the Year award since it started in 2016.

The pitcher/outfielder is a three-time Coast-to-Coast Conference (C2C) Pitcher of the Year and has earned All-C2C First Team honors three times in her career.

She led her team to a runner-up finish at the 2023 DIII National Championship and finished 18-2 in the circle this season. Her 1.14 ERA ranked 19th in the country on the season and she posted 12 complete games, four shutouts and three saves.

At the plate, she batted .396 with 50 runs, 65 hits, nine doubles, five triples, nine home runs and 55 RBI in 53 contests. She ranked ninth nationally in RBIs and 10th in total bases (111).

“We are so proud of Lindsey and all of her accomplishments,” head coach Lacey Lord said. “It is an incredible honor for her to be in the running for such a prestigious award. Lindsey is not only an incredible athlete but an even better person and I am so excited for her. Her positivity is infectious and she leads with such grace and humility. She is such a phenomenal leader and excels on the field, in the classroom and in the community. Lindsey is so well respected and I can't think of a more deserving person for this award.”
