Finalists for the Class of 2024 Honda Sport Award for Golf Announced

Adela Cernousek from Texas A&M University, Louisiana State University’s Ingid Lindblad, Julia Lopez Ramirez from Mississippi State University and Florida State University’s Lottie Woad are the four finalists for the Class of 2024 Honda Sport Award for Golf as announced by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) today.

The Honda Sport Award has been presented annually by the CWSA for the past 48 years to the top women athletes in 12 NCAA- sanctioned sports and signifies “the best of the best in collegiate athletics”.  The winner of the sport award becomes a finalist for the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the prestigious 2024 Honda Cup, which will be presented during a live telecast on CBS Sports Network on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 7 PM ET, from its new home in New York City.

The golf finalists were selected by a panel of coaches and experts from the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). The Honda Sport award winner for golf will be announced later this week after voting by administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools. Each NCAA member institution has a vote.

Cernousek, a junior hailing from Antibes, France, was the 2024 NCAA DI Women’s Golf Championship individual medalist capturing the program’s first individual national champion. She finished the season as the No. 4 collegiate golfer in the NCAA rankings and shot a single-season program-best 69.94 stroke average.

Lindblad is the 2024 PING/WGCA Player of the Year and is a three-time Honda Award finalist for golf. A graduate student from Halmstad, Sweden, she captured the 2024 ANNIKA Award and is a three-time SEC Player of the Year and five-time First Team All-SEC. She completed 52 weeks as the world’s No. 1 women’s amateur.

Lopez Ramirez hails from Malaga, Spain, and is a two-time Honda Award finalist for golf and a two-time SEC Player of the Year. She captured the SEC Championship individual medal for the second straight season and holds the MSU program record for the lowest scoring average (70.10). The junior is a two-time WGCA First Team All-American.

Woad captured the 2024 Augusta National Women’s Amateur championship this spring and was named the 2024 ACC Golfer of the Year. A runner-up for both the ANNIKA Award and WGCA Player of the Year, the sophomore from Farnham England, finished the 2024 season with a single-year program record 70.04 stroke average and No. 3 in the NCAA rankings.

The CWSA, entering its 48th year, has honored the nation’s top NCAA women athletes for their superior athletic skills, leadership, academic excellence and eagerness to participate in community service.  Since commencing its partnership in 1986, Honda has provided more than $3.4 million in institutional grants to the universities of the award winners and nominees to support women’s athletics programs.
