Salma Djoubri, from Lynn University, was named the DII Honda Athlete of the Year finalist for tennis as announced today by Executive Director Chris Voelz of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.

Djoubri is now designated one of 11 finalists for the prestigious DII Honda Athlete of the Year. This will be voted on at the end of the academic year by national balloting among 1,000 NCAA member schools as part of THE CWSA program, now in its 48th year.

Most recently, Djoubri was named the 2024 ITA Player to Watch Award winner and finished the 2024 season as the top-ranked player in the ITA national rankings. She held the top spot for nine straight weeks going wire-to-wire at No. 1.

The sophomore is a two-time Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Athlete of the Year and a two-time All-SCC First Team honoree.

Hailing from Caudebec Les Elbeuf, France, she finished the 2024 spring season with a 18-1 mark in singles without a loss to a DII opponent. She finished 3-0 versus top-five ranked players and added 12 wins in doubles action. Djoubri helped Lynn to a final ranking of No. 4 and a 17-4 overall mark.

“This wonderful achievement is an honor to Salma, which is well deserved,” stated head coach Mike Perez. “Salma has worked diligently to grow as a player and person. Her efforts have manifested into a dream season that she will remember for many years to come. I congratulate Salma on this prestigious honor.”

All Honda Sports nominees from DII and DIII become a finalist for the prestigious 2024 Honda Athlete of the Year in their respective divisions, presented in a live telecast on CBS Sports Network on Monday, June 24, 2024, at 7 PM ET, from its new home in New York City.

The CWSA, entering its 48th year, has honored the nation’s top NCAA women athletes for their superior athletic skills, leadership, academic excellence and eagerness to participate in community service.  Since commencing its partnership in 1986, Honda has provided more than $3.4 million in institutional grants to the universities of the award winners and nominees to support women’s athletics programs.
