Wingate University freshman Amely Bochaton has been named a finalist for the DII Honda Athlete of the Year for Golf, as announced today by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.

Bochaton is among 11 elite finalists for this prestigious award, which recognizes the top NCAA Division II athletes across various sports. The winner will be determined through national balloting by representatives from over 1,000 NCAA member schools and will be honored during a live telecast on CBS Sports Network on June 30th, at 7:00 pm ET, in New York City.

“It’s an honor to be a finalist for the DII Honda Athlete of the Year Award,” stated Bochaton. “I’m so grateful to play for Wingate and so thankful for my teammates, coaches, parents, and mentor who support me each day. I couldn’t have hoped for a better year. I had some amazing moments, met new people who brought a lot of happiness into my life, and I can’t wait for next semester to start fresh all over again.”

Freshman standout Bochaton delivered a historic season for Wingate University, earning both 2025 Division II PING Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year honors and was also named a First Team WGCA All-American.

In addition to her national accolades, Bochaton swept top honors in the South Atlantic Conference (SAC), being named SAC Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and earning First Team All-Conference recognition after capturing the individual title at the SAC Championship.

Ranked No. 1 in the national Division II individual rankings for the duration of the season, Bochaton set a Wingate and SAC record with an impressive 70.8 stroke average.

A native of Evian Les Bains, France, she competed in all 14 events for the second-ranked Bulldogs, finishing in the top 20 in every tournament, with an astounding 13 top-10 finishes and six individual titles, along with two runner-up showings. She helped lead Wingate to a SAC Championship, a fourth-place individual finish at NCAA Regionals, and guided the program to its first-ever appearance at the NCAA National Championships.

“It was a privilege to be able to witness Amely’s historic run this year,” stated head coach J.D. Lamm. “Her competitiveness and drive to be the best player in the country are unlike anything I have ever seen in my coaching career. She just seems to be able to flip that switch on in her mind during high-pressure moments during tournament play. She’s not just the best player in D2 this year…she might be one of the best D2 women’s golfers in the history of the division. I can’t thank her enough for choosing Wingate and allowing me to be her coach.”

Now in its 49th year, the CWSA honors the nation’s top female collegiate athletes for their exceptional athletic performance, leadership, academic achievements, and community service. Since partnering with Honda in 1986, the program has awarded over $3.4 million in institutional grants to support women’s athletics at universities across the country.
