Finalists for the Class of 2025 Honda Sport Award for Golf Announced

Maria José Marin from the University of Arkansas, Kiara Romero from the University of Oregon and Florida State teammates Mirabel Ting and Lottie Woad have been announced as the four finalists for the Class of 2025 Honda Sport Award for Golf, as revealed today by Chris Voelz, Executive Director of The Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA).

The Honda Sport Award has been presented annually by the CWSA for the past 49 years, recognizing the top women athletes in 12 NCAA-sanctioned sports and symbolizing “the best of the best in collegiate athletics.” The recipient of the sport award will become a finalist for the prestigious Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year and the 2025 Honda Cup, which will be presented during the live broadcast of the Collegiate Women Sports Awards Presented by Honda on June 30, at 7 pm ET, on CBS Sports Network.

The golf finalists were chosen by a panel of experts and coaches from the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). The Honda Sport award winner for golf will be announced later this week after voting by administrators from over 1,000 NCAA member schools. Each NCAA member institution has a vote.

Marin, a sophomore hailing from Cali, Colombia, captured the 2025 NCAA Individual Championship, becoming the third Razorback to win the title, tying for the third-best score in event history (-12). Ranked No. 3 in the collegiate golf rankings after NCAA play and as high as No. 10 in the World Amateur rankings, she was named SEC Player of the Year and earned her second WGCA First Team All-America honor.

A finalist for the ANNIKA and WGCA Player of the Year awards, Romero claimed the 2025 Big Ten Individual title and helped Oregon secure the conference team championship. The San Jose, Calif., sophomore broke her own school scoring record with a 70.16 average, earned eight top-10 finishes, and placed in the top 20 in all ten events.

Ting, a junior from Miri, Malaysia, won the 2025 ANNIKA Award and was named the 2025 PING WGCA Player of the Year and ACC Golfer of the Year, following a season in which she finished runner-up at the NCAA Championship and ranked No. 1 in the collegiate golf rankings. A three-time WGCA All-American, she has earned seven career individual titles and is a two-time conference player of the year across two leagues.

Woad, a two-time Honda Award finalist and 2024 Augusta National Women’s Amateur champion, has held the No. 1 World Amateur ranking since June 2024 and ranks No. 4 collegiately. A three-time WGCA First Team All-American and two-time ANNIKA Award finalist, the junior from Franham, England, helped lead FSU to the 2025 ACC title and holds school records for career and single-season scoring averages.

The CWSA, now in its 49th year, celebrates the nation’s top NCAA women athletes for their excellence in athletics, leadership, academics, and community service. Since its partnership began in 1986, Honda has provided more than $3.4 million in institutional grants to the universities of award winners and nominees, supporting the growth and success of women’s athletics programs.
