THE BIGGEST AWARDS EVENT FOR WOMEN’S COLLEGIATE SPORTS HEADS TO NYC

THE BIGGEST AWARDS EVENT FOR WOMEN’S COLLEGIATE SPORTS HEADS TO NYC

Chris Voelz, Executive Director of the Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda, announced today the relocation of the two-day Honda Cup event, the most prestigious award program for women’s collegiate sports in the nation, to New York, N.Y. The CWSA Board of Directors Executive Committee unanimously approved the recommendation to move the event starting in 2024.

The CWSA has honored the nation’s top NCAA women student-athletes for the past 47 years, recognizing superior athletic skills, leadership, academic excellence and community service.

“We are thrilled to announce that in 2024, we will be relocating the biggest awards night in women's collegiate sports to New York City, marking a significant milestone for our organization!” exclaimed Voelz. “The CWSA presented by Honda is televised live on CBS Sports Network each June and the two-day event celebrates the remarkable achievements of female college athletes. With our move to New York City, we are sure to elevate the event even higher.”

“Honda is proud to support CWSA and be a part of this exciting new chapter,” said Katie Swenson, Corporate Social Responsibility Unit Manager for American Honda and CWSA Board Member. “We look forward to celebrating the upcoming class of incredible women who are shaping the present and future of college athletics.”

At one time, the awards program alternated between L.A. and New York City with a press conference format. Los Angeles, Calif., has served as the host city since 2013, when the award program was expanded to a two-day event culminating in a live telecast on CBS Sports Network. The event includes a welcome reception, a Taste of NYC for the honorees, press junket, luncheon, pre-telecast reception and a live telecast on CBS Sports Network.

The move to New York City, the top media market in the country, will increase brand awareness and visibility and expand potential sponsorship opportunities. The telecast itself will be hosted at the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City.

The “best of the best” female collegiate athletes deserve to share the city of the Heisman Memorial Trophy and the WNBA Draft to name just a few of the iconic sporting events in New York City.

The CWSA Awards program for the Class of 2024 begins this December with the announcements of the fall Honda Sport Award winners and continue through winter and spring announcements, building toward the two-day Honda Cup event in June. The Class of 2024 will gather for the event on June 23rd and 24th, with the Collegiate Women Sports Awards presented by Honda live telecast on Monday, June 24th at 7 pm ET, on CBS Sports Network.

“The CWSA is very grateful for the wonderful opportunities we have had over the years to showcase and honor the very best women intercollegiate student-athletes in the world in two of the USA's largest markets, New York City and Los Angeles,” stated Jean Lenti Ponsetto, CWSA Board of Directors Chair.

“Our honorees deserve the biggest of stages for CWSA and our partners to share their amazing stories and accomplishments. We're delighted to return once again to New York City for the 2024 two-day showcase and awards program on June 23-24.  And very much looking forward to CBS Sports Network televising from the CBS Broadcast Center.  The CWSA honorees, their families and fans will find New York a terrific city to visit and enjoy the sights and sounds of this iconic bedrock of America.”
